Real People Selling Great Cars Automobile Dealers Association COB Ontario Toyota Dealers Advertising Association, Northern Superior Automobile Dealers Association COB Northern Ontario Toyota Dealers Association, and Southwestern Ontario Automobile Dealers Association, (together, as the “OTD”) respect your right to privacy.
This Policy outlines how the OTDA collects, uses, and discloses personal information, and applies to all personal information that the OTDA collects from consumers.
Personal information refers to information about an identifiable individual, such as your name, address, telephone number, email address. It does not include aggregate information that does not identify you specifically.
The OTDA Toyota Dealers Association may collect personal information from you through customer surveys, when you make inquiries or requests for information, when you use features on one of our websites that request you provide personal information, when you attend an event we conduct and provide us with personal information, when you visit one of our websites, and when you otherwise choose to provide us with personal information.
The personal information we collect may include your name, address, email address, phone number, vehicle information, your vehicle needs and preferences, communication preferences, language preferences, location information, and any other information which you choose to submit to us, such as information regarding your preferences, demographics, and lifestyle.
The Ontario Toyota Dealers Association may use your personal information for the following purposes:
1. to respond to your requests, for example, where you ask for products, services or information;
2. to improve products and services and better understand your automotive needs, including through customer surveys;
3. to increase your awareness of Toyota (Lexus)(Scion) brand products and services;
4. to include you in advertising or marketing campaigns; and
5. to better understand your needs and preferences in order to better recommend offers, products and promotions that may better meet your needs;
6. to understand who uses our services and how we can improve them;
7. to facilitate the delivery of targeted and more relevant ads, promotions, and offers, both on our website, and on third party websites;
8. for other purposes which are disclosed to you and to which you consent;
9. for other purposes which are permitted or required by applicable law.
For the purposes outlined above, the OTDA may share your personal information with Toyota Canada Inc. (“TCI”), Toyota Credit Canada Inc. (“TCCI”) and with Toyota (Lexus) (Scion) dealerships and dealer associations.
Your personal information may be transferred to third party service providers and agencies that the OTDA may use to assist in managing and processing your personal information.
The OTDA may also disclose personal information: (i) with your prior consent; (ii) in connection with a sale of all or substantially all of the assets of one of the OTDA’s businesses or if we merge with or are otherwise acquired by a third party; (iii) to conduct investigations of possible breaches of law; (iv) to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be violating an agreement they have with us, TCI, TCCI, or with a Toyota (Lexus) (Scion) dealership; or (v) to protect our rights, safety or property; or (vi) as may be required or permitted by law.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information. When you visit our web sites, we may collect non-personal information including:
• The name of the user’s internet service provider
• The type of the Internet browser or device being used
• The referring web site and pages visited on our site
• time and duration on our site
• location data
We use this non-personally identifiable information to generate aggregate statistics regarding the activity on our websites.
Cookies. Cookies are files that your web browser places on your computer's hard drive that permit us to tell whether, and if so, how many times, you have accessed our web sites previously, your language of choice, your dealer of choice, the province in which your internet provider resides, and user behaviour as it relates to our websites. Cookies may be used to store a unique identification number tied to a your computer or device so that your device can be recognized as the same device across one or more browsing sessions, and across one or more sites. Cookies serve many useful purposes including:
• Cookies can help us and third party services understand which parts of our site are most popular as they help us see which pages and features visitors access and how much time they spend on the pages. We study this information to better adapt our services and to help provide a better experience.
• Cookies help us and third parties understand which ads a user have seen to better customize communication and advertising to each user’s perceived needs and interests.
You may choose to decline to accept cookies if your browser permits but doing so may affect your use of our web sites and your ability to access certain features of the web sites.
Pixel tags and Beacons. A pixel tag or beacon are a web technology that is placed on a web site, online content, videos, and emails, and can allow a server to read certain types of information from the user’s device, know when a user have viewed particular content or a particular email message, determine the time and date on which the user viewed the beacon, and the IP address of a user’s device which indicates to us that a page or e-mail has been viewed or an action is taken. We and third parties use beacons for a variety of purposes, including to analyze the use of our websites and (in conjunction with cookies) to provide content and ads that we believe are more relevant to the user both on and off our site.

Third-Party Links. Our websites may contain links to other sites. When you click on a link that takes you to third party web site, you will be subject to the third parties' privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions of third parties or for their privacy practices. The OTDA encourages the users of our web sites to be aware when they leave the web sites and to read the privacy policies of each and every web site with which they interact.
Children. The OTDA does not use our web sites to knowingly solicit personal information from or to knowingly market to persons under the age of majority. If a child has already provided us with Personal Information, his or her parent or guardian may contact us for the purpose of requesting this information be deleted.
The Ontario Toyota Dealers Association may license technology to serve advertisements on our own websites and within our content as that content is served across the Internet. In addition, we may use third-party ad networks, publishers and other entities to serve advertisements and third party analytics vendors to evaluate and provide us with information about the use of our websites and viewing of our content.
Ad network providers, data providers, publishers and other media-related companies, and/or analytics service providers may set and access their own cookies, pixel tags and similar technologies on your device’s web browser and they may otherwise collect or have access to information about you. We and they may target advertisements for products and services in which you might be interested based on your visits to both the OTDA web sites and other web sites. We and they may use a variety of companies to serve advertisements.
Many network advertising programs allow you to opt-out of targeted advertising. Users can opt out of receiving targeted advertising from participating ad networks, audience segment providers, ad serving vendors, and other service providers by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada.
These opt-outs will not be effective if your browser is configured to reject cookies, or if you subsequently erase your cookies, use a different computer or change browsers. Please note that even if you opt-out, you will still see advertisements while you're browsing online. However the advertisements you see may be less relevant to you and your interests.
If you are receiving commercial electronic communications from us, you may unsubscribe from future commercial electronic communications using the unsubscribe mechanism we include in such messages.
The OTDA retains your personal information as long as is required for the purposes identified when you provided the personal information and for any new purposes identified to and consented to by you, or to meet any legal requirements, and for an appropriate time thereafter.
The Ontario Toyota Dealers Association helps protects your Personal Information by maintaining physical, organizational and technological safeguards intended to help protect against unauthorized use, disclosure or access.
Personal information may be accessed by persons within our organization, or our third party service providers, who require such access to carry out the purposes identified to you or otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.
Although we have taken measures to protect our web sites, computer systems and any personal information that we have collected from unauthorized use, access, disclosure, misuse, alteration or destruction, no security measures can provide absolute protection. As a result, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us.
The personal information that you provide to the OTDA may be transferred outside of Canada for processing. The OTDA may store personal information on servers located in other jurisdictions, including the United States. Please note that the privacy laws in such jurisdictions differ from Canadian privacy laws and that in some jurisdictions your personal information may be accessed by law enforcement authorities or the courts.
You may review, update or correct any of your personal information held in our files and your consents regarding its use and disclosure at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer in any of the ways indicated below.
